How to Use Number Ranges

  • To specify a range of consecutive numbers, enter the first and last number separated by a hyphen. For example, to specify all numbers between 5 and 10 inclusive, enter 5-10.
  • To specify several non-consecutive numbers, separate each one with a comma. For example, for the numbers 1, 5 and 9 only, enter: 1,5,9.
  • Ranges can include combinations of these two elements. For example, to specify the numbers 1, 3, and all the numbers between 10 and 15, enter: 1,3,10-15.
  • Negative numbers can also be entered. For example, to specify all numbers between -2 and 4, and all numbers between -10 and -5, enter: -2-4, -10--5. Don't worry if you end up with two hypens in a row - Worksheet Genius will figure it out.
  • Numbers do not need to be entered in ascending order. For example, 13,5:9,20,-5 is fine.
  • You can specify a step size between each number in a range - this can be used to generate multiples. To generate all the multiples of 5 between 5 and 100, enter 5-100(+5). To generate all the odd numbers between 1 and 20, enter 1-20(+2). To generate all the two digit numbers ending in 6 between 16 and 106, enter 16-106(+10).

For those of you that preferred our older method of using a colon to define a range (5:10, for example), you can still use that too if you want to.

Denominators range

Enter the range of denominators (bottom halves of the fractions) to use on the worksheet.

For instance, for halves, thirds and quarters, enter 2-4. Denominators of 1 are not permitted.

Denominator multiplier maximum

Enter the maximum multiplier to use on the worksheet.

This value indicates how much larger the numerator can be when compared the dominator. For instance, if the denominator is 5, and the multiplier is 3, the maximum improper fraction generated would be 15/5. Minimum value is 2.
