Inspiration

Here are some ideas for using flashcard worksheets:

  • Improve your children’s sight recognition when reading.  Use these to practise the common words, which will improve your children’s confidence and fluency when reading texts. If you’re stuck for words, you can always use our word lists.
  • Create a game of Pelmanism (matching) pairs by printing out the flashcards twice.  Now shuffle the cards together and place them face down. Each person playing then selected two cards and turns them face up: if they match, that player “wins” both cards and removes them from play; if the don’t match, they are turned back over where they are found.  When there are no more cards left, the winner is the person who collected the most cards.
  • Use this page to quickly create displays and labels for your classroom.
  • By placing many cards on a page, you can also create a quick check list for assessing a student’s knowledge of a given set of words.
